Our gorgeous melon head with his piercing green eyes. He is an absolute doll, instant lovebug, total squish of a cuddle muffin.
Mel is truly just the purrfect companion. He is confident and mellow, totally at ease with people. He instantly comes for cuddles and plays, just LOVES people! His favorite spot is in your lap, he loves to give kisses and headbutts. He's just so happy to be with you. He can also be independent, playing by himself with balls and you mice (that he quickly loses, so have a lot of them). He's so very adaptable and easygoing. Truly one of the sweetest, most loving young cats ever.
He's submissive, which means he can be easily bullied; so he’d be great on his own but also good with other easygoing gentle cats.
Mel is FIV+, but his status doesn’t slow him down at all. When spayed/neutered and vaccinated against other diseases as needed and otherwise health, most of the time too FIV + cats will just require a good diet and to ensure that they aren’t exposed to sick kitties due to their lowered immune system. They don't need expensive, extraordinary treatment to lead long healthy lives.
Becoming FIV+ is always a possibility for kitties, particularly when they hadn't been spayed or neutered), growing up on the street (it is contracted via a deep bite or through sex). The good news is that a FIV positive kitty can live a full life inside and is not likely at all to pass it on, if fixed and he/she is not aggressive. With a slow introduction to another friendly cat they usually do so well. They are the purrfect kitty for the right home.
FIV does not transmit across species. So a FIV+ kitty can easily be adopted into a home with dogs, as well (with a slow introduction of course), or as a single animal in a home.
All of our adoptable animals are cared for and assessed in foster homes (we do not have a shelter), up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed or neutered and tested for FeLV/FIV, before they are adopted. They have had de-worming medication as a standard of care and Flea/Tick/Ear Mite preventive treatment. Medical records will be released with the adopted pet. His FIV status doesn’t slow him down at all. He's submissive, so he can be easily bullied. He is great on own but also good with other easygoing gentle cats.

Please pay particular attention to steps 1 & 2. We include on our website details on how to prepare for a home visit, how to get ready for a new kitten, some useful guidance for introductions and reminders about taking time everyone needs.
