My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Ooga Chaka was brought in by a community member on November 9, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Ooga Chaka, a cautious yet curious little kitten seeking a home where she can adjust at her own pace. While she has shown pro-social behaviors, she can be a bit reserved when approached and may hiss or avoid contact initially. With patience, understanding, and a gentle approach, Ooga Chaka has the potential to become a wonderful companion. This sweet kitten thrives in a quiet environment where she can gradually build trust. Treats and interactive playtime are her pathways to connection, and she appreciates the chance to bond in her own time. A household without young children or overly energetic pets will provide the calm she needs to flourish. Ooga Chaka is ready to embark on the next chapter of her life with someone who values the rewards of earning her trust. Don't forget to bring a top-loading carrier to ensure a smooth and secure journey to her new home.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
