Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Adoption Area: East Tennessee
Taco needs:
-Kid-free home
-To be an only dog
-No cats
-No apartments or attached housing
-Someone who is home often or can take him to work
-Someone who can take him on a nice long walk most days
-Easy affordable diet to manage his food allergies
Taco is a 6-year-old 9-lb male chihuahua mix. If you have been looking for a sweet little clown to keep you rich in laughter and snuggles, look no further, Taco is the little man you have been waiting for! He was surrendered by his previous owner to a shelter and SBRET scooped him right up!
Sweet and Silly Taco is a well rounded guy who loves play and adventure as much as he loves cuddles, lazy days and new friends! He has gotten very good at car rides in his doggy booster seat, where he sits quietly napping until he gets wherever his chauffeur is taking him. He loves long walks and is generally polite on a leash but does enjoy chasing squirrels, so we think he might be too much for a cat in the house. At night he sleeps in the big bed and he will politely ask you to lift the covers so he can burrow under the blankets where he will tuck himself behind your knees or make a pillow out of your feet.
This little man is 100% fully house trained and a most respectful roommate. He has never chewed anything inappropriate, never gotten into anything he shouldn’t, and he doesn’t even steal food off the plate when his foster mom snacks on the couch right beside him. When left at home alone Taco likes the security of his play pen where he settles after 1-5 mins and naps quietly until his people come home. He will sometimes howl for a few minutes so he should not live in an apartment or attached housing. He would certainly prefer his forever people are home often or are able to take him with them on adventures. Children and other dogs can make him nervous so he is looking for an adult only home where he can be a solo pup, but he is very friendly with adults and loves when company comes to visit the house. When his people are around he is brave and adventurous. Without his people he is a bit more shy and cautious, so it may take him some time to adjust to his new home.
Taco is a generally heathy guy. His teeth are good, and his joints are heathy! He does however have both food and environmental allergies. Don’t worry, his allergen-free food is affordable and easy to find! His new family should know that he will never be allowed to sneak certain treats (chicken, beef, eggs, dairy) and he will need a nice medicated bath weekly possibly for the rest of his life to keep his skin heathy and itch free.
Taco is an incredibly special dog, the whole package, sweet, silly, friendly, loyal, ready to adventure or lie around and snuggle for a full relaxing day. If you give this handsome dude a chance, I assure you, you will not regret it!
Taco is up to date on shots, neutered, microchipped, heartworm-free and ready to fall in love with his new people!!!
