Jack is a sweet little guy with a gentle disposition. Although he initially seemed shut down, we encouraged him to come out by managing the environment and using leash pressure. He walked exceptionally well on the leash, demonstrating an impressive ability to respond to pressure by relaxing his grip. While Jack showed some reservations about being handled—exhibiting behaviors like lip licking and lifting his paws—he tolerated the interactions remarkably well. He displayed curiosity about his surroundings, and as he became more comfortable, he started to engage more with his environment. Although he was not interested in playing with squeaky toys, he was open to a slow introduction to new stimuli. Jack expressed some apprehension around specific items, such as crutches and strollers, and he took a moment to investigate a metal dish but quickly recovered from any initial fear. Given his stress level, he wasn’t interested in food or toys during the assessment but demonstrated resilience. It`s worth noting that Jack interacted very well with other dogs, greeting them appropriately and engaging in sniffing behavior. He is capable of fitting into a home with other animals. With some time to warm up, he will thrive in a loving environment and build confidence with people.
