My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shade is senior tortoiseshell kitty who recently lost her elderly owner. She was well-loved for 17 years and we are looking for the perfect person to continue caring for her for the rest of her life. She is loyal, affectionate, and has the most beautiful bright green eyes.

She is also a very talkative lady! She has an adorable, croaky meow and just wants to lay with her human all day long. She is declawed on her front claws and will make very soft biscuits on your lap. She gets around well, with just a hint of arthritis in her back hips and legs. She will likely need a monthly injection for pain management. And she appreciates pet stairs or small ramp to get up on your sofa or bed. She will also need a quality senior diet to support healthy heart and kidneys (we recommend Hills Science Diet for Adults 11+).

We believe she was the only pet over those years and needs to be an only cat. She is very stressed around other cats, no matter how friendly they are. Although, she would be ok with cat-friendly dogs! (no reaction to her two canine foster siblings). Although she has not been around children specifically, she is a very gentle soul and would likely do well with children 8+.

Shade is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, and has perfect litter-box etiquette. We also did a senior lab panel and the vet said she is in amazing shape!

If you want to meet your new snuggle buddy, please submit an application at FORrescue.net

We would love to find her a new home for the holidays! She deserves someone who will dote on her and give her all their attention and love.

More about this rescue

Friends of Rescue is a certified 501(c)(3) organization formed in 2009, consisting of volunteers who are devoted to saving shelter animals that are in danger of euthanasia. Southern shelters have a constant overflow of dogs and cats, little funding, and limited space. Once the animals arrive at the shelter, they have very little time. It is our goal to help save these adoptable animals and find loving individuals/families who will provide committed, FORever homes. We are NOT professional trainers or animal behaviorists; simply volunteers who are trying to save these animals from euthanasia. Each animal in our program is in a foster home and receives all age-appropriate vetting while in our care.
