Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.
A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known.
Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.
Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list.
thanks
the CPR Adoption team
Date into Rescue: 10/21/24
Reason for being in rescue: breeder release to a local groomer who partnered with CPR to find Hansel his best forever home
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Hansel is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.
Weight: 17 lbs
Height: 12 in
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Adoption Fee: $399
Fence needed? No, but Hansel would love to go to a home with a fenced in yard "so I can burn off some of my Shih Tzu energy with some zoomies!" It's not required but is suggested. If you do not have a fenced in yard, you need to watch him carefully and never let him off leash. He will turn into a ramblin' man. Also watch doors. He likes to go through them to see what is on the other side.
What kind of home would be best for me? Hansel gets along with every living creature he encounters. He will tell you, “Whether it’s people, dogs, or even cats, I’m friendly and easygoing. I may bark a little when I first see someone or another animal, but don’t worry – it’s just my way of saying, ‘Hey, I’m here!’ It’s more of a friendly, defensive bark rather than an aggressive one. If another dog or cat gets too close too quickly, I’ll likely turn tail and run. I’m definitely a lover, not a fighter! But if I can't run, I'll stand my ground and let everybody know I'm "da man."
Hansel would not mind being the only dog in your home so he could receive all the attention and loving. He loves sitting next to you and will happily accompany you on any trips you make, to the store, the cafe, or simply a drive down the road. This loving little boy wants nothing more than to be with his own human at all times. Oh, and BELLY RUBS! The little dude really wants belly rubs, they just may be his favorite thing in the world. While he can be an only dog, he says "if you already have a dog, that’s okay too. I’d love to have a canine buddy to play with!"
Hansel’s size will allow him to adapt seamlessly into either an apartment or house. He would also be fine whether his adopter was a single person, a couple, or a family. He has only lived in a female-only home. He has had no exposure to children.
What is my personality like? Say hello to handsome little Hansel, a Shih Tzu that’s soon to be your best friend! This lovable little guy is looking for a second chance at a forever home after being surrendered by his previous owner. Hansel says, “I don’t quite understand why I’m not in a home anymore – I’m just a good boy who wants to love and be loved. Now I’m hoping to find a family where I can settle in and live my best life!”
Hansel is a lover not a fighter. He’s an affectionate, curious little guy who loves getting attention and cuddles. Hansel gets along great with other animals – though tends to be cautious around cats. The little guy says, “I’d love to play with them, but I’m smart enough to know they have claws. If you have a cat, we can definitely get along, as long as your kitty is okay with me!”
Hansel is just a curious little guy that can’t understand why he doesn’t have a home any longer. He loves his caregivers and the other dogs here but longs to have his own home and family once more. If you are looking for a devoted happy little guy who is full of happiness and joy, and dedicated to being your constant companion, Hansel is the little man for you. Come make his dreams, and yours, come true today.
Hansel recently met a 3 year old human and thought "this one is cool."
How do I act when I first meet new people? Hansel is always excited for the love and affection people give him. He loves being loved on, being petted, sitting with you on the couch or chair, and he loves belly rubs. Handsome Hansel is just a loving little guy!
Other tips and tidbits: Hansel was born on 09/25/20.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.
To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.
Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
Thank you for considering CPR.
