My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Babka!

From the same home as our other sweet "breakfast-treat" cats, Babka arrived just recently at the shelter when his guardian had more animals than they could care for. This handsome boy has been a bit shy but is growing more confident everyday.

He has lived with other cats in the past, and would likely do well with a slow introduction to another cat in the home. We do know that he has no experience around dogs at this point. He came from a home where he was strictly an indoor cat, and would like to continue bird watching from the window sill.

We feel that given some time to settle, Babka will be a playful, curious cat whose confidence will only grow in his furever home. We know someone special is going to notice this sweetheart and he will quickly become a loving companion.

Babka is set to be neutered on November 20th in North Vancouver (costs covered by the BC SPCA!). He would love to find a family before then who can take him to/from his appointment.

Adoption hours are 12-3, Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Monday). If you think you might be that special person, fill out an application through our website or come into the branch to meet him and learn more.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
