Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Penelope is a sweet pup less than a year old. She came from a multi dog home and wasn't given much one on one attention, but she's great with other pets. She does take some time to warm up to her human, but once she does she's a lovely companion.
Penelope is doing great with her house manners and she will toleraate a crate and walk on a leash, "most of the time". She's got a good personality and would be a suitable dog for a family with friendly kids. (All pets must be supervised when children are present, at all times).
Penelope is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and on prevention for heartworm and fleas. She eats a high quality kibble and isn't real picky. She enjoys her brief outdoor potty breaks and her leashed walks. Penelope's adoption fee is $400. She is ready for adoption to an approved home.

**If you are unable to pay the adoption fee ($250 and up), we are unable to place a dog in your care. Being unable to meet the financial obligations of pet care (recurrent or emergent) is one of many reasons why so many of these pets end up in rescue. It's not lack of love.**
We require an adoption application, and then we will check references. We also check with vets. If the person is not LOCAL then we will partner with a local animal control to complete a home visit.
There are adoption fees associated with the costs of veterinary care of the pet. We require an adoption contract to be signed to finalize the adoption process and we have an agreement that all our pets are to be Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. pets for LIFE. In other words, in the event that they can not stay in their adoptive home, they are not to be surrendered to another individual or rescue.

More about this rescue

Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. is a non profit, all volunteer rescue working with Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. The pets are housed in individual volunteer foster homes, not kennels or shelters until they are adopted permanently. We get to know our animals and therefore can tell the potential adopter what the traits of the animal are and what home would be the best for the pet. We are dedicated to the adoption, education, rescue and transportation of the Chihuahua breed. We believe that every Chihuahua deserves a loving home.
