Take the Pet Home
This helps Amazing Mutts and Wiggle Butts Co. with pet care costs.
Kirk and his friends found themselves at the local animal shelter when their owner became too sick to take care of them. They were unvaccinated, unalters and full of matts. Kirk got a case of Pnemonia while he was in the shelter. The shelter fell in love with him as they nursed him back to health and wanted to make sure that a rescue would be able to take him in and finish getting him better. His smaller housemates that looked like cocker spaniels got rescue already but no one commited to Big Boy.
Kirk is 45 lbs a spaniel mix. He might be part Cocker Spaniel or could a a larger breed of Spaniel such as a Springer Spaniel. He is rocking the rescue cut at the moment, But when he came to rescue he had long curl ears like a spaniel a full thick chest of waves, long feathery arms and huge grinch feet. Being a Spaniel mix he would need routine grooming every 4-6 weeks with brushing in between. Spaniels are not typically hypoallergenic.
Kirk is a little timid at first meeting. He is used to a more quiet setting. But take a toy or tennis ball out in the yard and you can watch him come to life. Careful he will destroy a tennis ball easily, which could be rough/ abrasive on his teeth as well as a chocking hazard. We have switch him to a more hardy alternative.
He is crate trained and working on house training skills. He does well with being on a schedule and routine, but has not found his way to communicate he has to potty. He has not been in rescue long, but enjoys just spending time at your feet, laying near by.
He enjoys time playing in the yard with his furry foster friends. He has done well with the resident cats in his foster home. He's doing well meeting people as long as they get down on his level and take things slow. He is still easy to startle. At the present time, I would not recommend him in a home with young children, however, with time (to build confidence) and positive experience that could very well change.
adoption fee $300 includes spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworms.
