Cocoa and Cinnamon are around 11 years old. My mother had to go into a nursing home and we need to rehome them. I've tried to keep them but they don't get along with my own elderly dog or my cats; it could be because they're confused about the change, or because they've never been around other animals. I currently have them in my basement, where they spend about 22 hours a day (they only come out for walks, which they love, and they do great on a leash). Obviously, this is no life for a dog! They've been having accidents, which again may be behavioral because of their life upheaval, so they've been wearing doggie diapers.
The two need to stay together--they're always together, and will sleep in the same bed, and if I tie them out on nice days they'll sit right next to each other even when they have long leads for exploring. They are VERY affectionate and loving and want nothing more than to be lap dogs, like they were at my mom's. They're excellent watch dogs and good companions.
