My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Kane was brought in by a community member on September 7, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Kane, an adorable baby bunny just starting to discover the wonders of the world! Kane is full of curiosity and charm, always exploring his surroundings with tiny hops and inquisitive nose wiggles. As he's still learning the ropes, Kane will need a patient and loving family to help him grow into a confident and happy companion. With gentle care and plenty of encouragement, Kane is sure to blossom into the perfect addition to your home. Kane came in with his sister, Rosebud #9238198 and they're looking for a home together! The best way to bond with them is to spend time with them on the floor, and shower them with plenty of greens and Timothy hay! Rosebud and Kane are domestic rabbits and needs to be kept indoors. The nice thing about having indoor rabbits is that they can come out of their cage for bunny playtime, in a rabbit proof area of the home. It's during this supervised playtime that rabbits often exhibit some of their most fun and interesting behaviors! Rosebud and Kane will need a large enclosure with free roaming time (bigger is always better) and would love a family who will interact with them daily to keep them healthy and social! When rabbits get the space and enrichment they need, they often form deep bonds with their humans! If you're ready to nurture this budding beauty, Rosebud and Kane will hop right into your heart and make your home their own. Don't forget to bring a carrier for a safe journey home!

RHDV2 Vaccine: Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV2) is a highly contagious disease that can affect rabbits. Due to its presence in San Diego County, all rabbits will receive a mandatory RHDV2 vaccine before adoption. Guests will be charged $14 for this vaccine upon adoption.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
