My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Saffron was brought in by a community member on November 1, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Saffron, a gentle soul looking who arrived at the shelter under difficult circumstances. While we don't know much about her past, we do know she'll need time, understanding, and a calm environment to adjust to her new home. She can be fearful of things that are new to her. New people, new dogs, and high activity can make her fearful. She will need to meet any potential canine roommates prior to adoption. Her new home environment will be low to no traffic with children age 12 and up. Saffron loves treats, enjoys chewing on toys, and allows pets once she feels safe. She may even chase a ball now and then, though she might not return it! She seems comfortable around familiar dogs and, with a little leash training, could make a great walking companion. If you're ready to give Saffron the fresh start she deserves, come meet her today. Be sure to bring a leash and collar to ensure safe transport home!

At SDHS:
Saffron has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
