The name Carlota can be traced back to a few different meaning, including a feminine name of Italian origin meaning “Free woman”. Our girl couldn’t be more deserving of this name.
Carlota was found being violently beaten by her past “owner” after eating a chicken. Luckily, a volunteer was able to intervene and save Carlota. After years of abuse, plus over 365 days in the shelter, Carlota is now in a loving foster home; a free woman. She is filled with gratitude for her new life. This is evident in the way she greets every day with optimism and joy, so much so that her foster mom has dubbed Carlota “her sunrise girl”. Even little acts of love, like tucking her in, to simply being able to snooze at your feet while you work from home, she’s happy. In short, Carlota loves to love.
Okay - on a lighter note, Carlota is a great houseguest. She is fully house- trained and crate-trained, fantastic on the leash, and respectful of the house rules. She is absolutely smitten with the teenager in the house. She does well with other dogs, but would likely happiest solo. She’s a BFF kinda gal.
Carlota’s future family will show her that love can be unconditional. She would love a fenced yard or access to grassy areas to explore. She would thrive in a home with people that are home most of the time. While Carlota would be best solo, she would love pack walks with other dogs. Older, dog savvy kids would be fine for her. No cats for Miss Carlota, as she would chase.
If you think you could be Carlota's new beginning, please check out www.dibsrescue.com for the adoption process and application. Her adoption fee is $750. If you are a family with kids, please check out our resources on kids and dogs before you apply (https://dibsrescue.com/kids-dogs/).
