My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jersey!

Jersey is a shy, sweet girl looking for a peaceful home where she can feel safe and loved. Life in the shelter was overwhelming for this gentle girl, but her loving and playful nature shines through when given the time and space to feel safe. Once she feels comfortable, she is a delightful companion who enjoys quiet moments, gentle pets and plenty of play time! Upon going to a foster home, she hid for the first couple days but after that, it didn't take long for her to blossom into a playful and affectionate cat. Her typical routine is to demand play time in the morning, then nap in a safe place until evening when she greatly enjoys more games and curling up on laps while purring. She has become quite talkative and seems to need affection!

Jersey is an ideal companion for a calm, adult-only household with individuals who are willing to let her blossom at her own pace but also to spend time interacting with her.

If you're patient, compassionate, and ready to help Jersey feel at home, she could be the perfect addition to your family.

Jersey is in foster so please contact our office if you are interested in meeting her. Our public hours are on weekdays between 1pm-5pm (excluding Thursdays as we are closed to the public) and weekends 1pm-4pm at 3202 Norland Ave. or; 2.) The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
