Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello. My name is Sweet Pea and I need a loving, new, forever family. Even though I would love to stay at my wonderful foster home, the kind lady who saved me from life on the streets, being starved and mistreated, cannot keep me; as she has 12 other 4-legged children already. It was a good thing I showed up on her doorstep, as a man down the street was going to shoot me just because I was a stray with no home. (Ooooh, that gives me nightmares.) Now, for the good news, let me tell you about myself. I am approximately 8 months old and I look to be a purebred Treeing Walker Coonhound according to the vet who gave me all my shots, wormed me, tested me for heartworms (I was negative - - thank goodness), gave me heartworm meds and flea and tick meds, bathed and groomed me, and spayed me. I weigh approximately 40 lbs, now that I have been fed regularly and have gained weight. I was only skin and bones when the kind lady rescued me. I am a very sweet and gentle girl, with an excellent temperament, hence my name - - Sweet Pea. (my foster mom’s 6 yr. old niece named me that - - I had never had a name before). I would love a new family with children and other pet’s maybe or a new single mom whom I could spend all my time with. I am just a little bit timid and insecure because so many humans that I had met before were mean to me, but I am getting over that really fast. I don't bite and I play well with all other animals. As far as I know, I don't have any bad habits (that is what my foster mom says anyway); and I would prefer to be a family pet and not a hunting dog; as I don't like to chase other animals, unless I'm playing, of course. I need a home with a fenced yard, or where I will be kept indoors and walked on a leash or taken to the doggie park to play, as, after all, I do have a hound's nose and curiosity and I wouldn't want to ever get lost. I don’t bark a lot - - just when I hear other dogs or see something strange/out of the ordinary. My bark is really a howl and my foster mom says it is cool. My foster mom also says that I would protect my new family from bad people (instinct, not because I’m mean or anything). I really would prefer to be allowed to be a house dog; as I love to cuddle on the couch and I haven’t gone potty in my foster mom’s house.
