My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sarafina appears to be a lab/Hound mix whose estimated DOB is 8/1/19. She was adopted from us and lived with that family for over a year and was recently returned to us because her owner is moving. This poor girl did not deserve to be abandoned and she needs a new home so she can be happy again. Sarafina is calm, easy on a leash. She is oh, so sweet and she loves to be petted. Sarafina also enjoys sniffing around the yard and chasing squirrels and rabbits! She doesn't know much in English, but she knows ve'n and vamos. So ven aqui and meet Sarafina and take her to her new fur-ever home! Vamos!! Let's go!

Our adoption fee is $125 for small breed dogs under 20 pounds and $100 for all other dogs and cats unless otherwise noted in their bio. Every pet available for adoption is current on shots spayed/neutered, and microchipped. You may submit an application online for pre-approval and to set an appointment or you can visit the shelter Wednesday - Sunday from 11am - 5pm. Please note that the kennels close for pet viewing at 4:30pm.

More about this shelter

The mission of the Humane Society of Pulaski County is to rescue, care for and find homes for abandoned, abused, homeless and unwanted animals; to reduce suffering of animals; and to reduce the number of homeless animals through adoption, spay/neuter, and through education.

The Humane Society of Pulaski County provides access to low-cost, healthy, inoculated, sterilized animals to people seeking to adopt animals as pets only. Adopters are screened to see if they can provide the basics of care for the animals, proper housing, and continued veterinary maintenance; and have no history of animal abuse or irresponsible ownership.

The Humane Society is a private no-kill shelter, supported solely by donations, fund-raisers, bequests and grants. We receive no city, county or state funding, nor are we affiliated with any other organization. We have been rescuing animals since 1946, and have been in our present building since 2000.
