Meet Zoe, a youngster who is as feisty as she is loving! When Zoe came to HB, she was set-up in an ISO room where she could watch the other cats and get a feel for the place. She enjoyed her new found freedom by climbing and scratching every post she could find within her reach. We knew she had feline friends at a.c. and decided to let her into the cattery and she immediately played with every toy, climbed the cat condos, looked out windows and figured out how to get out on the catio through the cat door. She's already made a few friends of the kittens who are her age. Zoe has definitely made herself at home. Please note that Zoe had an eye injury in August and she lost sight in her left eye. It doesn't bother her in the least bit and she can fly through the air with the best of them! Zoe would do best being adopted with a friend or in a home with a young playful cat like her. Their adoption process

Submit Application

Interview

Normally someone will call you after the application is received.

3.
Meet the Pet

Meet and greets are usually at our kennel in Ellijay but other locations may be considered.

4.
Take the Pet Home

If the meet and greet goes well, paperwork is signed, fees are paid, and the pet may be taken home on a trial basis for up to 30 days.

Additional adoption info

All dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, current to age on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm negative, and started on heartworm preventative and flea preventative. Adoption fee for dogs are approximately $200 cash, check or debit card.

All cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, dewormed, FELV/FIV negative and started on flea preventative. Adoption fees are set based on the animal but typically around 65.00 cash, check or debit/creditt card.

Application review and approval is required prior to adopting. Adopters must be at least 21 years old.

Go meet their pets

We hold monthly adoption open houses at our kennel in Ellijay, Ga. We also arrange to do adoptions at the kennel by appointment. So if one of our pets pulls at your heart, contact us and we will set up a "meet and greet" to start the adoption process.

Adoptions are held at other various locations from time to time around the Gilmer County / Ellijay area.

Homeward Bound is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill organization based in Gilmer County, Georgia, which began in August 2000. We are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for unwanted companion animals, while actively seeking permanent homes through our adoption programs. We take in dogs and cats that are found as strays, owner surrenders and abandoned. We also take animals out of high kill shelters to prevent them from being euthanized. We have rescued and adopted out about 7,000 animals.
