My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lucia! This 3-year-old Chihuahua weighs 5 lbs. Lovely little Lucia is the ultimate lapdog who is looking for a family who is ready for lots of snuggles.

  • General Behavior: Lucia is an affectionate little lapdog. She is a confident social butterfly who is everyone’s friend. Her ideal day involves exploring the yard and maybe a bit of sunbathing and playing, before coming inside for a lot of cuddles and kisses and a long snooze in her dog bed.

  • Likes & Dislikes: In addition to snuggling with her people, Lucia loves toys: the more, the merrier!

  • Training: Lucia is a little lady! She is housetrained if let out frequently, loves car rides, walks well on a leash, and generally has good basic manners.

  • Medical: Lucia is a healthy girl! She just needs her monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog.

  • Other Animals: Although Lucia is small, she is mighty, and she is not afraid of any size dog. She does particularly well with other small, playful dogs and it might be nice for her to have a furry friend in her forever home. She has not been observed around cats, but her foster thinks she'd be OK with them.

  • Children: Gentle Lucia does well with children, although due to her tiny size, she’d do best in a home with kind, understanding children.

  • Home: Lucia would love a home with a securely fenced yard where she could sniff and sunbathe to her heart’s content.

  • Grooming: As a short-haired gal, Lucia should not require too much elaborate grooming.

  • Overall: Lucia will make a wonderful companion for a family who can love her forever.

Lucia doesn’t ask for much: just a spot on your couch, some snuggles, and a place in your heart. Can you give her that? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed, and she has just had her teeth cleaned.  Her adoption donation is $350.

We are a foster-based rescue organization and do not have a facility. We have all events posted on our website each month.

More about this rescue

Poodle and Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that saves dogs that truly need help. We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We do not have a physical shelter because every dog lives with one of our foster families. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,500 dogs since 2008.
