My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Poppy is on the small side of a medium build and weighs approx 30 lbs with a beautiful soft coat. Poppy was found abandoned at a gas station and was transferred to our rescue due to her imminent delivery. Poppy delivered puppies on Jun 27th. Poppy is still a young dog and has many puppy-like behaviors, good and bad. Poppy is house broken and walks well on a leash and harness with a person who will correct her reactive behavior (barking and lunging at other animals and vehicles). To be her best self, she also needs an outlet to burn off energy, A secure, fenced yard will be required for any potential adopters (a supply of squirrels to chase is desirable). With a yard where she can run freely, Poppy is a well-mannered affectionate girl in the house. She tolerates other small dogs, but can be reactive to larger dogs and those she does not know/like. She has hunting breeds, so cats are probably not a good option.

Poppy is a particularly affectionate with one person and a small set of friends - her owners need to be the alpha dogs or she will be! Although she has been very patient with children one on one, Poppy has been very reactive to children's energy and will be best suited to a single person or household with adults.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is three-fold: submit an application, meet the pet, then arrange for us to do your in-home interview.
Adoption Fees:
Kittens: $60, Cats (1 year plus): $50, Puppies: $250, Adult Canines (1 to 6 years): $200, Seniors (7 years plus): $100 (unless otherwise specified). Adoption fees are not a tax-deductible donation as allowed by IRS regulations. Adoption fees help to offset the cost of the pet's care incurred by Coastal Pet Rescue, which are generally 2 to 3 times the adoption fee amount.
Some special circumstances may change the fee; see pet's listing for actual adoption fee.

All Coastal Pet Rescue pets are current on shots, microchipped* and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters are responsible for any shots that may be due after adoption (particularly for kittens and puppies that must have three rounds of shots to be protected).

Microchip:
CPR has implanted a microchip as part of the adoption process and the chip is included in the adoption fee. However, some chip companies require a registration fee varying from $9.99 to $19.99. The registration fees are the responsibility of the adopter and are NOT included in the CPR adoption fee. Adopters may add this cost to their adoption fee to have CPR register the chip on their behalf.

30 Days Pet Insurance:
As a Petfinder member, all adopters are entitled to a free 30 day insurance policy through PetFirst. Coastal Pet Rescue is not responsible for this policy. Adopters must call PetFirst’s toll-free number 855-710-7387 to activate the coverage. If adopters fail to call, the policy will not be activated.

Our pets all live in our homes, so adoption applications must be submitted for appointments to be made to see the pets. We also have them with us at our outdoor events, so view our "events" calendar on our website for those dates and locations.
