My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Lalito was brought in from another shelter on November 14, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Lalito, a sweet pup in search of his new home! Lalito can be a shy boy at first; however, he thrives in the company of other social dogs. This makes him the perfect companion for any current furry friend you may have. He requires patient introductions to new things but responds well given a bit of time. Lalito would flourish in a quiet and calm household (ideally with another pup), where he can feel safe and secure. Due to his timid nature, he would do best in a home with children over the age of 12 who can understand and respect his boundaries. If you're looking for a gentle soul to join your family and are willing to provide the patience, and understanding Lalito needs, then he might be the perfect match for you!

Shy/Fearful Dog: This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
