My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on November 8, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Max - the Gentle Giant!
Max is a stunning Great Pyrenees who's ready to be a BIG part of your world. At 88 lbs, he'll make his presence known in the best way - with lots of love and loyalty! Previously, Max was crate-trained and spent most of his time outdoors, so he's got a taste for fresh air and open spaces. He enjoys car rides and being around people but isn't overly keen on other dogs (small animals are generally okay, though!). Being a working dog at heart, Max thrives when he has a job to do, so his ideal family will be one who's familiar with his breed's needs and can keep him engaged. His thick, beautiful coat will need regular brushing to keep him looking his best. Ready for a big, lovable companion who'll be a loyal friend? Bring a leash, a sturdy collar, and be prepared for Max to fill your life with love!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
