How this pet arrived:
Nutmeg was brought in by a community member on November 1, 2024.
Why this pet is the one for you:
Nutmeg came to us under heartbreaking circumstances, and her journey has left her fearful. We don't know much about her past, but it's clear she's still learning to trust people. Her new family will need to be patient with her while her sense of safety and security grows. Nutmeg should also be given plenty of time to adjust to her surroundings without the added pressure of meeting new people and places. Additionally, Nutmeg struggles with handling and shows appeasement behaviors (like rolling, lip-licking, and tail-tucking) to make people back off. This body language is her way of managing her discomfort and can be confused with soliciting attention, so it's crucial for her new family to interpret these signals correctly. Any children in the home must be over 10 years old and be present for the meet-and-greet. We're unsure how Nutmeg does with cats or unfamiliar dogs, although she did arrive with canine companions. If you'd like to give Nutmeg the gentle, supportive space she needs to blossom, come down to meet her today. Be sure to bring a leash and a collar to ensure safe transport home!
Shy/Fearful Dog: Nutmeg requires a virtual behavior consult. Please watch THIS video to learn more about her.
