Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Copper!
34 lbs
Approx age 6-7 months
Male
Red heeler mix
Do you love a success story?? Do you also hate to be alone, love to be touched every second, and want a dog to gaze lovingly at you every time you glance in their direction? Then Copper is the guy for you! This heeler mix started life in horrible conditions, and was likely never in a home for the first months of his life. His family was saved in the literal 11th hour, and Copper made his way to Illinois be begin his Good Boy training.
The last few weeks he has been working on his manners, maintaining a clean home, and socializing. His recall is great, and he would probably excel at agility training.
A good home for Copper would meet his need for working his body and mind. Herding dog experience is a plus, but just like dogs, owners can be trained as well.
If you have love, patience, and a good pair of walking shoes, Copper might be the handsome pup you have been looking for.
Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.

More about this rescue
We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.
The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.
Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.
While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.
We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
