My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

CHESTER ***CONTACT KAT katkylabrescue@gmail.com CHESTER IS THE CUTEST 3-4 YEAR OLD, PUREBRED KING CHARLES CAVALIER SPANIEL. HE’S ONE OF THE CUTEST PUPS EVER!!! DON'T PLAN ON KEEPING YOU HEART WHEN YOU MEET CHESTER BECAUSE WITHIN MINUTES YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS PRECIOUS LITTLE FELLOW--WE DID!!! THE FIRST THING YOU WILL NOTICE IS WHAT A BEAUTIFUL LITTLE GUY HE IS, HIS COAT IS A DEEP RICH RUBY RED WITH GLACIER WHITE ON HIS CHEST, YOU WILL WANT TO HOLD, PAT AND CUDDLE THIS LITTLE "SNUGGLE BUG" ALL DAY WHICH AS MUCH AS HE LOVES ATTENTION AND AFFECTION IS JUST FINE WITH HIM. YOU WILL BE RE-PAID WITH AS MANY WARM KISSES AS YOU WILL ALLOW THIS LITTLE LOVER TO GIVE YOU. CHESTER ALSO HAS SOME OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL EYES WE HAVE SEEN, DON'T BE FOOLED BY LITTLE CHESTER' SERIOUS EXPRESSION FOR UNDERNEATH THAT SERIOUS POSE IS ONE OF THE SWEETEST AND HAPPIEST LITTLE PUPS YOU WILL EVER MEET. HIS EYES ARE HUGE, A RICH CHESTNUT COLOR POSSESSING A GENTLE, KIND, LOOK THAT SEEMS TO BE SAYING "LOVE ME"--IN OUR OPINION IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO!!! ALTHOUGH CHESTER MAY NOT BE THE BIGGEST OF PUPS, IN FACT OUR DIRECTOR COMMENTED "HE'S JUST A LITTLE PEANUT OF A PUP" HOWEVER THIS "LITTLE" FELLOW'S HEART AND SPIRIT ARE HUGE!!! CHESTER GIVES TRUE MEANING TO THE WORD "COMPANION", HE IS AN AFFECTIONATE, SWEET, A "HAPPY-GO-LUCKY" PUP. HE HAS A GENTLE DISPOSITION, SWEET, EXTREMELY LOVING, PLAYFUL A COMPLETE JOY TO BE AROUND. CHESTER' TRUE HAPPINESS IS BEING WITH THOSE HE LOVES. CHESTER IS SUCH AN EASY FIT HIS FIRST DAY WITH YOU YOU WOULD FEEL HE HAD ALWAYS BEEN A PART OF YOUR LIFE. CHESTER IS ALSO A VERY SOCIAL LITTLE GUY AND ADORES THE COMPANY OF EVERY ONE HE MEETS CHILDREN TO SENIORS, JUST SAY A KIND WORD TO THIS TINY PUP OR OFFER HIM A TREAT AND THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW THIS LITTLE "LOVE ME" PUP IS ALL CUDDLED UP IN YOUR LAP. CHESTER IS A PUP YOU COULD TAKE ANYWHERE AND HE WOULD MAKE YOU PROUD, BETTER ALLOW A LITTLE EXTRA TIME WHEN FOLKS SEE CHESTER. CHESTER ALSO ADORES THE COMPANY OF OTHER DOGS, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT SIZE HIS ONLY REQUEST IS THAT THEY WILL PLAY WITH HIM!!!(HE'S EVEN FINE WITH CATS) CHESTER TRULY IS THE ULTIMATE COMPANION, WHATEVER YOU DAY CALLS FOR JUST MAKE THIS LITTLE FELLOW A PART OF IT, CHESTER WOULD ADORE AN EARLY MORNING WALK TO THE DOGGIE PARK, JUST A CHANCE FOR HIM TO MEET A NEW PLAY BUDDY, EVEN THOUGH CHESTER IS A LITTLE GUY THIS LITTLE FELLOW CAN KEEP UP WITH YOU AND WE BET HE WILL MATCH YOU STEP FOR STEP. A CAR RIDE TO RUN ERRANDS AROUND TOWN JUST OPEN THE CAR DOOR SCOOP UP THIS LITTLE FELLOW AND GO. CHESTER WILL FIND HIS SEAT, TURN THAT ADORABLE HEAD TO ONE SIDE AND GIVE YOU HIS "COME ON LET'S GO" LOOK. CHESTER DOESN'T ALWAYS KNOW WHERE HE IS GOING AND IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER TO HIM, HIS TRUE HAPPINESS IS JUST BEING WITH YOU. THERE IS ANOTHER PART TO THIS PUP'S PACKAGE AND IT IS APPARENT AFTER SPENDING JUST A SHORT TIME WITH CHESTER, THIS PUP IS SOOOO SMART!!! HE IS A VERY ALERT LITTLE FELLOW ALWAYS AWEAR OF HIS SURROUNDINGS, SHOW CHESTER SOMETHING NEW AND HE WANTS TO KNOW WHAT IT IS AND WHAT IT DOES. HE IS A PUP THAT IS EAGER TO LEARN, LEARNS EXTREMELY FAST BUT MOST IMPORTANT DELIGHTS IN PLEASING WHICH MAKES TRAINING A BREEZE. THE SKY'S THE LIMIT WITH THIS EXCEPTIONAL LITTLE GUY. AT DAY'S END WHEN YOU AND CHESTER HAVE SPENT THE DAY RUNNING ERRANDS, TAKING LONG WALKS, PLAYED WITH HIS FAVORITE TOY, WHEN CHESTER COMES INSIDE HIS HOME HE CONTINUES TO SHINE. HE WILL CURL UP IN A BALL AS CLOSE TO YOU AS HE CAN GET AND NAP, CONTENT JUST BEING WITH HIS FAMILY, HIS EASY AND LOVING NATURE MAKES HIM JUST A JOY TO BE AROUND. WHEN IT'S TIME FOR BED HE WILL SNUGGLE IN HIS SOFT, FLUFFY BED JUST AS LONG AS IT'S AS CLOSE TO YOUR BED AS HE CAN GET BUT WE BET IF YOU WANTED A CUDDLE SOFT SLEEPING BUDDY ONE WHO DOESN'T TAKE UP ANY ROOM AT ALL CHESTER WOULD OBLIGE. CHESTER ONLY HAS ONE WISH AND THOSE HUGE "LOVE ME" EYES TOLD US THIS THE FIRST TIME WE SAW HIM, HE WANTS "TO BELONG, HE WANTS TO BE A PART OF A FAMILY WHO WILL SEE WHAT A TREASURE HE IS AND LOVE HIM. WE FEEL THAT HE WOULD BE A GREAT COMPANION FOR A COUPLE, SINGLE GUY OR GIRL OR A FAMILY WITH GENTLE CHILDREN WHO WOULD SPEND TIME HOLDING, PATTING, PLAYING WITH AND LOVING CHESTER. CHESTER IS A DEVOTED LITTLE FELLOW, ONE WHO IS THERE FOR YOU 100%. HE IS A PUP WHO IS LOVING, DEEPLY TRUSTING AND LOVES WITH EVERY FIBER OF HIS BEING. HE ONLY ASK FOR A SOFT PLACE TO LAY HIS HEAD AND WHEN HE CURLS UP AT NIGHT HE JUST WANTS TO HEAR "CHESTER WE LOVE YOU" SPOKEN TO HIM AND HE WILL BLINK THOSE BIG BEAUTIFUL EYES, WAG HIS FLUFFY TAIL AND WE KNOW THIS IS HIS WAY OF SAYING "I LOVE YOU TOO" THIS LITTLE FELLOW WITH THE "BIG" HEART AND SPIRIT IS A DREAM!!!! Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Application, followed by an interview either by phone or home visit.

BEFORE YOU APPLY:
All known information about an individual dog is provided in it's listing. We do our best to provide accurate information, but adopters must understand that each home is different and the dog may behave differently in a new home. Dogs are creatures of their environment and you help make the dog what it will be.

Homes considering adopting a puppy must be prepared for:
1.) Flexible schedules for potty training. Puppies can only "hold it" for one hour per month of age (ex. a 4 month old puppy can only go 4 hours without a potty break).
2.) Crate training until the puppy is at least one year old, to prevent chewing on inappropriate things when you can't supervise.
3.) Socialization: The more positive and varying experiences as a puppy the better, both in and out of your home.
4.) Puppy behavior and life stages are equivalent to a human toddler. It takes at least a full year to have a calmer, well adjusted dog. Patience is required and when your dog's behavior is a positive experience for you and those around you, your patience will be rewarded tenfold, for years to come.
Please do not consider adopting a puppy if you have not thoroughly thought through the pros and cons of having one. So many people end up returning them after 3-5 months because they didn't realize the amount of work involved in raising a puppy.
Patience, appropriate toys, socialization, and obedience training are all musts. All are time consuming, and can be expensive.

All Dogs Require:Supervision with children and obedience training.
Adopters that want to have good dogs must be prepared to put the time and effort into training a dog. Any dog requires work and effort, but a well trained, well socialized dog is more than worth the effort put in to get them there.

Most of the puppies and dogs are vetted, fostered and lovingly cared for in the home state in which they were rescued.
