My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Nugget was brought in by his previous owner on October 5, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Nugget, a shy but sweet cat looking for a home where he can blossom at his own pace. Nugget came from a home with multiple other cats, so it's a must that he has a confident, cat-social buddy in his new family to show him the ropes. You can also adopt him with one of his current kitty friends! While Nugget is still learning to trust people, with patience, yummy treats, and gentle encouragement (no forced handling, please!), he'll start to open up. Nugget will thrive in a calm environment with a safe space to acclimate. Don't forget to bring a hard-sided carrier for a smooth and secure trip home!

Shy/Fearful Cat:  Nugget requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
