The name Melody suggests a certain sweet harmony, like a pleasant tune, and it is perfectly fitting for her calm and gentle nature. Melody brings comfort and peace and she has the potential to bring the same warmth and companionship to her forever home. She is gentle and affectionate with a sensitive side. She would love a home where this is welcomed and appreciated. Melody is estimated to be 2 years old and we believe she is some type of black lab mix, the mix part is what helped create her small, delicate frame. Given the nature of rescue we cannot guarantee age or breed. We lovingly call here a mini-lab and at 45 lbs she is definitely bringing lovely medium-dog ease. To only add to her ease, her leash skills are lovely, she is a dog that has no sense of urgency in her. Not because she is slow by any means, she is just content going your pace and being present for the moment, no pulling to get to somewhere she isn’t.
This type of calm, gentle dog can easily be called shy, but that can be perceived as a negative, her shy isn’t that. She is confident but sensitive and likes to take everything slow, again its like she doesn’t see an urgency. Personally it is a lovely trait in a dog and fits so many people and situations beautifully. So if your life is calm and you want to keep it that way, Melody is ready for the quiet life.
Melody has been introduced to so many dogs, big, small, low-energy to high. She is dog friendly but her easy connections have always been with dogs that are a similar energy level to her with a low-key play style. A relaxed dog, one that isn’t pushy, would be her best pairing. If you are a one dog house but have a cat, Melody is cat-tolerant. When she met our house-cat she was very respectful of him, the best way to describe her approach is avoidant and cautious .

We facilitate adoptions across the US through our own internal transport to ensure the quality of care. We travel to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT and Canada (Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA or Brattleboro, VT for the eastern Canadian border)! Our pups travel in comfort with 24/7 care on our USDA licensed vehicles, including buses and cargo vans. You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey!
You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!
The adoption fee is $900 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectible, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!

Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.
