My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Kodiak, and I’m a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees mix, tipping the scales at a whopping 96 pounds of pure love and devotion. I may be big, but deep down, I’m just an oversized lap dog! There’s nothing I love more than leaning against my favorite humans, sitting on their feet, or standing over their lap while I soak up all the love, back scratches, and ear rubs I can get. Because of my love for leaning, I’d do best in a home where no one has balance issues—I wouldn’t want to accidentally knock anyone over!

I have a medium energy level, which means I enjoy a good balance of activity and relaxation. I absolutely love to run, hike, and explore, so I need a home with plenty of space to roam and stretch my legs. After a good adventure, I’m just as happy to settle down for a relaxing evening with my favorite humans. Whether we’re outside enjoying nature or inside snuggled up together, I’ll be right by your side.

While I adore my people, I do best as the only animal in the household—I want all of your love and attention just for me! My protective instincts make me an excellent guard dog, and I take my job of keeping my home and loved ones safe very seriously. I’m naturally watchful and alert, but once I’m properly introduced to new people, I warm up quickly and enjoy their company.

I’m highly intelligent, eager to please, and very trainable. I already know some basic commands and am both house-trained and crate-trained. I also load up in the car easily and travel nicely, making me a great companion for road trips and outdoor adventures.

If you’re looking for a loyal, protective, and affectionate best friend, I could be the perfect match for you. I have so much love to give and am just waiting for the right person to take me home. Please come to the shelter today to meet me—I can’t wait to find my forever family! 🐾💙
