My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our scruffy buddy, Milo! Milo is an easy going fella, who loves to be loved! Milo has been the best big brother figure to his little friend, Miles. They would love if they could go to the same home together, it`s Miles and Milo against the world! If bringing both home isn`t possible, Milo would settle for another four-legged pal similar in size. Milo requires special attention following a perplex living situation prior to coming into our care, and would need owners who can dedicate the time to help Milo thrive in a home setting! Part of this special attention is letting him be your lap doggie until the end of time! It`s is favorite spot:)

More about this shelter

The South Suburban Humane Society is a 501(c )(3) organization that was started in 1970, serving the animal welfare needs of the entire south suburbs of Chicago. In the beginning, we handled all rescues, adoptions and provided foster care out of private homes. Since November 1973, our organization has been operating a 10,000 square foot open-door animal shelter in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

For over fifty years, our organization has helped tens of thousands of animals. We offer extensive outreach programs including humane education, and community outreach events. We also operate a resale shop located in Steger, Illinois that promotes our organization, our animals and provide much needed income to support our humane work.

The Mission of the South Suburban Humane Society is to protect and promote the well being of pets and their people in our community and beyond.
