My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Nacho Libre, a sweet and sensitive 13-year-old small mixed breed with a heart as big as his name! This gentle senior has been through a lot, and while he’s a bit of a shy guy, he’s incredibly loving once he feels safe.

Nacho is easily spooked, so he finds comfort in having safe spaces where he can retreat when he feels nervous. Picking him up can be a bit of a challenge—he may even let out a little cry—but with patience and gentleness, he learns to trust. Nacho needs a helping hand when it comes to mealtime, as his recessed lower jaw and lack of teeth mean he can`t pick up food on his own. His foster feeds him by hand, and he’s quite appreciative of the care and attention.

While he may not come when called and has a knack for running off if startled, Nacho does great on a leash and enjoys gentle strolls outside. Mr. Nacho is also wonderfully potty trained, waiting for his people to come home and let him outside to do his business. He does well around other dogs, though he’s not been tested with cats or kids. Once he feels secure, Nacho’s true, sweet nature shines through, and he loves to cuddle up, making you his safe haven.

Nacho Libre is looking for a calm, patient adopter who understands his quirks and will provide the gentle care he needs to feel at home. He’s a little messy, but with love and understanding, Nacho will reward you with his trust and his companionship. Are you ready to be the hero for this little old guy?

Additional adoption info

Adoption Process
We have an open adoption policy, so there is no application or interview process. We simply ask that you meet the pet in person before adoption. We have adoption specialists that will help you find the right pet for your family.

Adoption Center
The Adoption Center is located at 7500 N. Western Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. Our Adoption Center is a totally new concept in Oklahoma City where dogs have comfortable, expanded kennels and cats stay in “living rooms” with furniture and toys.

Pets by Appointment
Some amazing dogs get stressed out in a kennel environment like our Adoption Center, and much prefer staying at their foster home until they find their new family. If you see a dog on our website that says “E-Mail to Meet Me” that means that this furry friend is just a click away from getting a ride to the Adoption Center to meet you in person.

Adoption Fees
Adult dogs are $150 to adopt, puppies are $200 to adopt, adult cats are $75 to adopt and kittens are $95 to adopt. All of our pets are microchipped, spayed or neutered, treated with all age-appropriate vaccinations and flea, tick, and heartworm preventative prior to being cleared for adoption, so we put a lot of effort and monetary investment into each of our animals including a two-week quarantine period in a foster home. These adoption fees help cover the costs of our animals’ health and well-being!
