My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Look at our Goldie!

This little girl has the most amazing ears; one up, one down, and surrounded by fluff!

Goldie came to us from an unfortunate hoarding situation where she was one of over 100 animals pulled into rescues for safety. She was surrounded her whole life by countless rabbits and guinea pigs, and now is learning to adjust to a life indoors surrounded by people who are finally showing her the love and companionship that humans can offer.

She is understandably nervous as she never had to be handled before, and will need an understanding person who will continue to work with her to trust the approach of a human hand but is starting to eat veggies out of our teams hand.

She is making such strides and we know she will find an amazing home, could it be you?

More about this shelter

Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.

To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
