Say hello to Shelby, just a gem of a little dog!!! The perfect home for Shelby would be an active home & dogs and children are a definite plus, since she adores them both.
This girl was picked up by a woman who saw her running close to a highway in Texas. She wanted to keep Shelby but her two couch potato older dogs would not have it.
She loves other dogs and plays hard. She does groan and growl when she’s romping with other dogs, but it is all in fun. Shelby has no food aggression or resource protection. Shelby is professional runner and has regular zoomies. https://youtube.com/shorts/ekQGp7r-OFM?si=420xYH-H_hABQ0RG https://youtube.com/shorts/GubkAjufRXQ?si=HJsftwd_h1d3_5iE
She met a cat and was interested but not assertive and the cat was not worried about being smelled and inspected. https://youtube.com/shorts/dEF-pYuxOsk?si=dWavQaF_MN-Yc7eB
Shelby follows her foster 4yo grandchild everywhere.. If she runs, Shelby runs with her, if she’s on the couch, Shelby lays with her, If the child kid throws a toy, Shelby brings it back. And she adores giving her human kisses. https://youtube.com/shorts/JvWK7kKkqcA?si=rpsZTGg_-LuuCeIN
Shelby isn't interested in chewing anything, but her toys. She doesn’t look for things to get into. She lets her foster mom collar/leash her before going outside. We think she may try to go over a 4’ fence, but when she is outside of the yard, and foster says "let's go back in", she beats her to the door.
She is crate trained and will hang out in her crate and play with toys. She has been crated for brief periods with no problem and is crated at night with no problems. She also enjoys sleeping with foster dad. When she has access to the doggie door, she has no accidents.
Just a truly great perfect sized pup that will bring you nothing but joy!!!

More about this rescue
PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.
Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
