Hey there! My name is Ike and I am a very sweet dog who is looking for a quiet home where I can comfortably get used to my new surroundings. I am looking for a home where I can love and be loved. Right now I am a little shy when meeting new people. But once I let you into my world, you will have a friend for life! You just need to be patient with me and let me get to know you on my own terms. And I am so worth the effort! And I will let you in on a little secret -- treats help a lot! I might enjoy living with another pup as I seem to really perk up when around other dogs! So if you have room in your heart and home for a sweet little dog like me, come down to the shelter so we can meet. You won't regret it!

Operating the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter, an open-admission facility and Alexandria’s only animal shelter, the League provides care for more than 3,500 animals every year, including strays, lost pets, local wildlife, rescue animals, and pets surrendered by their owners. Serving the community since 1946, the League has contracted with the City of Alexandria to provide animal care, control, and sheltering services since 1989.
