Caden is an active, loyal, lovable 9 month old, 55lb Catahoula Leopard Dog/Belgian Malinois mix who loves going on adventures, making new friends, and learning new tricks! This boy is very intelligent and is quite the problem solver. He loves mind-stimulating enrichment activities, such as snuffle mats and treat puzzles! He is also a pretty vocal boy and loves to speak his mind with the most adorable "wooooo's"!
Caden has unfortunately had quite a rough life in the 9 short months he's been alive. Born sometime in February, Caden's first visit to our local high kill shelter took place when he was only a month old. He had been found wandering the streets and a concerned member of the public took him to the shelter so he wouldn't have the risk of being hit by a car. He apparently had an owner, who came to retrieve him from the shelter later on. Only about a week and a half after his first arrival at the shelter, he was picked up yet again. It is unclear if his owner came to pick him up this time or if he was adopted out to a member of the public. Regardless, Caden ended up at the shelter, yet again, 3 months later and was adopted shortly after. Cut to October, and he found himself at the shelter for the 3rd time! This time, no owner or new adopter came for him and he was set to be euthanized. We couldn't let this poor boy's story end that way, so we decided to rescue him!
Caden has proven to be the sweetest boy with a great disposition and loves all people. He is more high energy than your average dog (likely why he was returned so many times) and needs help learning some manners that he was never taught by his previous owners, but he's a very smart boy and is eager to please his people. Caden is super athletic and loves playing with toys and other dogs, so it's pretty easy to get him tired out after a long play session. When he does finally tire out, Caden enjoys lounging inside and cuddling with his people. He loves affection and is good at being calmer inside. Caden has exhibited some pretty intense kennel stress, likely from being left in kennels for long periods of time with his previous owners, but we are working to help him realize that crates aren't bad. He's a pretty well behaved boy in the house from what we've seen anyway, so we don't think he'll need to be routinely crated for very long!
Caden is looking for a home with at least one other dog to play with and no small children (as he can be quite rambunctious and may knock a child over). He is already potty trained and learns things quickly. Caden is very loyal to his people and desperately wants this family to be his last!
Caden is located in Houston TX but can be transported to most US states for adoptio
