My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sadie Mae! This 9-lb Chihuahua blend is 13 years old. This sweetheart is looking for a loving forever family who have a spot for her on the sofa and infinite snuggles.

  • General Behavior:  Sadie is the cuddler-in-chief! She loves pets, giving kisses and even gently paws at you if she isn’t getting enough love. She will also go and nap in her cozy bed or on the couch during the day. After a long day of attention, love and napping, she sleeps under a blanket all night with no issues. She only has one tooth but is eating canned food with no problem. It just takes her longer to eat than other dogs.

  • Likes & Dislikes: Sadie loves pats and attention. You won’t win her heart with a toy, but with lots of scratches and snuggles!

  • Training: Sadie is a little lady! She is housetrained if let out very frequently. She seems to walk well on a leash, and has been a good passenger in the car.

  • Medical: Although she is a one-tooth wonder, Sadie Mae is a healthy girl! She just needs her monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog.

  • Other Animals:  Sadie doesn’t mind other dogs, big or small. She can be protective if she is snuggling with her people and another dog comes too close, but this can be corrected. She hasn’t been observed around cats, but her foster thinks she’d be OK with them.

  • Children: Sadie Mae hasn’t been observed around children yet.

  • Home: Sadie initially barked when her fosters left the house. She has gotten a lot better and is more comfortable (and doesn't bark as much) when they leave.  However, she would prefer someone home more often than not.

  • Grooming: As a short-haired dog, Sadie Mae should not require too much elaborate grooming, although she does need to have her nails trimmed regularly.

  • Overall: Sadie Mae will make a wonderful companion for a laid-back family who have an extra spot on their couch (and in their hearts) for this sweetie.

Do you have some spare snuggles for Sadie Mae?  Visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed, and she has just had her teeth cleaned.  Her adoption donation is $200.

We are a foster-based rescue organization and do not have a facility. We have all events posted on our website each month.

More about this rescue

Poodle and Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that saves dogs that truly need help. We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We do not have a physical shelter because every dog lives with one of our foster families. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,500 dogs since 2008.
