His name is Little.. it's the name the owner gave. He was surrendered because... well, the whole story of how this 2 year old became paralyzed makes no sense. We think it was to get back at the owner who we believe was a drug dealer. He has Little's parents as well and they are just 3 years old. He was given up ..,and thank God he was. He's in good hands w his new foster. Little saw a neurologist recently and because his injury was in June, it is too late to operate. Little does have some feeling in his legs and he is able to go potty on his own. He will be getting a new cart shortly bc the one he came with is crap. I will need to discuss w the vet about neutering .. we def don't want him getting cancer or prostate issues from being intact. Little is initially very nervous of new people but he comes around quickly and everyone who meets him falls in love. Little is very happy and active. He doesn't know he is disabled. He loves to play and moves very quickly on his powerful front legs. Little needs a family who if fine w a wheelchair pup, who will make sure to keep him clean, and that he doesn't rip his back legs up when he drags (drag bag). He also needs someone strong enough to help lift him (50lbs) into his chair. He needs a serious dog lover!! He needs someone who won't get upset if he does have accidents. Prefer older children in teens.....
Long Island would be best.. I'm looking at good, past vet records. Home check is a must. This little guy has been failed too many times and it's not going to happen again. Before you put an application in... think about this commitment.
Please go to the link to fill our our adoption application. https://www.remembermerescueny.net/adoption-application Remember Me Rescue does not adopt out of the local area, no transport is available. We adopt to Long Island, Westchester, NYC area and parts of Connecticut only.
Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!
