This beautiful girl is Orchid! She is friendly, energetic, and has a playful spirit that is a joy to watch. She loves toys, testing out every one, and readily releases them. Orchid will make you smile with her enthusiasm for running and playing in the water. She likes attention and petting, and was tolerant of handling. Orchid needs to work on leash manners as she pulls, and needs more training to learn not to jump on her handler. She can be a bit mouthy when offering food. When meeting another large female dog Orchid was friendly and initiated play. Orchid is waiting to share her zest for life with a family who’s looking for an adventurous, fun companion. Kids 13 and up recommended

More about this rescue

We are a group of people dedicated to rescuing dogs from crisis situations, some of which include euthanasia by animal shelters, neglect and other forms of abuse, or "free to a good home" ads, which result in dogs being bounced from one home to another, or being acquired by animal brokers ("bunchers") and sold to research laboratories where they are used for testing then discarded ("cruelty industries").

NBCR&P works primarily with 5 herding breeds, and herding breed mixes. On occasion, NBCR&P also rescues and places other breeds. We foster our dogs in a home environment, rather than a kennel, if at all possible. We take pride in our promise that at any time and for any reason in the dog's life, if the need arises, he or she has a safe place with us ("return to rescue" policy).
