STELLA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Stella Best Guess for Breed: Lab and terrier mix
Best Guess for Age: 1.5 years as of November 2024 Gender: Female
Approximate Weight: 44 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested.
Currently Living At: DC area foster home
Special Adoption Considerations: Stella is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Stella is Looking For: Her forever family! This sweet girl was a young mama who raised her four babies to be outstanding family pets and they went off to their forever homes. Stella is still a young dog with all that awesome energy for romps in the parks and all the adventures her new humans can dream up. She'd love to make new pup pals as well as go to dog school to show how super smart she is. But most of all, she just wants to be safe and loved and under her own roof.
She'a got so much to offer in exchange - all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags she's stockpiling (see the video here! such a happy girl!) and SO. MANY. SNUGGLES. What do you say? Will you be the lucky recipient? Is she the companion you have been seeking?
What My Foster Says About Me: Looking for a cheerful companion? Stella is a young, easy going, and eager pup ready to play and go out on long walks with you. She is very social, gets along with other dogs and is friendly with humans. Stella is attentive, confident, and offers plenty of kisses and an adorable gaze. Stella is accepting of crate time when needed and waits to be outside for potty time; to entertain herself, her favorite toy is a squeaky hard plastic shark and chasing a ball out in the backyard.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
