MADDIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!

Name:  Maddie       Best Guess for Breed: Lab and hound mix

Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of November 2024       SEX:   Female

Approximate Weight:  37 lbs as of November 2024

Gets Along With:   Maddie does well with other dogs. She does best with dog-savvy, confident cats. We haven't seen her with kids but she can be tested.

Currently Living at:   DC area foster home

Maddie is Looking For:    Her forever home! She came to Lucky Dog from a rural shelter. where she was in a foster home with a resident dogs. She did well with the dogs and really connected with a deaf one - she recognizes body language well and is observant of, and responsive to, other dogs' needs. Her shelter fosters say she is treat motivated, and that has helped with training. Potty training has been going very well. She does well in her crate.

Maddie is a happy girl with all that young-dog energy and ready to accompany her humans on long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up. She looks forward to a lifetime of love and loyal companionship.

What My DC Area Foster Says About Me: Maddie is such a sweet, goofy, wiggly, amazing girl! She loves to roll around and pounce on her toys and bounce around a room in the silliest way. She does the goofiest thing where she hits herself in the face with her tail because she's wagging it so hard. She loves to snuggle up with her people.

Maddie definitely has young dog energy and loves to play. Most of the time she just wants to hang out with her people and be next to you. Once she gets her zoomies out, she mellows out/settles quickly and she'll happily snooze by your side while you work. She does exceptionally well in her crate and sleeps through the night in it.

Maddie is so smart and a very fast learner. She was well-mannered when she arrived at her most recent fosters, and they've been working hard to reinforce her good behavior. She is learning so quickly! She knows 'sit,' 'stay,' and 'crate.' She's making great progress with her potty training, too! She is very food motivated, which helps a lot with training. Maddie will thrive in a home that is committed to keep working with her on her manners so she can live up to her full puppy potential.

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
