Franki (short for Frankincense) is a small 36 pound wonder! He came to Pei People from a local humane society, where they planned to remove one eye due to a bad ulcer. We intervened and ask them to release him to us, and our vet thinks the eye can be saved with entropion eyelid surgery to allow the ulcer to heal. Only time will tell, but we want to give this boy every chance to have two peepers! Franki loves to play with the other dogs. He knows 'sit ' command and will learn more commands quickly because he is treat motivated. He has learned the dog door by watching the other dogs. He enjoys toys, and he will bark to alert you to delivery people or things he feels are a concern. He loves meal time! And as a bonus, his rear paws have not just 10 toes, but 12! The extra digits are somewhere between toes and dewclaws. We are consulting our vet on whether to remove for safety (catching on crate wires, cracks in pavement, etc). stay tuned for the saga of 42 toes.... Finally, Franki will be a good boy in a crate and is fostering in San Diego. He is up to date on vaccines and is microchipped and neutered.

We require an adoption questionnaire (found online at www.PeiPeople.com) from all prospective adopters as well an an adoption contract , home visit and a reasonable adoption fee. We do not have any "free" animals.
Any pets that are not already neutered upon rescue will be neutered before placement into homes, unless a medical condition prohibits surgery.
