My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on November 2, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Courage, a gentle soul who came to us with her kittens. After displaying signs of fear and stress in the shelter environment, Courage will need patience and understanding during her transition into her new home. Her history with other cats suggests that she may enjoy the company of a social feline friend. A quiet household with no more than one child over 10 years old and no dogs would help her feel safe, as she'll need plenty of peace and quiet to adjust to her new surroundings. Courage will need a cozy, confined space to start-like a spare room-with high and low hiding spots where she can decompress. Through slow, low-pressure interactions, tasty treats, and delicate play, Courage has the potential to thrive and may even enjoy safe, secure outdoor time after settling in. Ready to meet this cautious but sweet girl? Bring a carrier-she just might steal your heart!

At SDHS:
Courage pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed.

Shy/Fearful Dog: Courage requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about her.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
