My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Loki!

Loki is a very special boy who found his way into a shelter when his owner started working out of town and no longer had time for him. Loki was raised in a family with small children and would do well with dog savvy kids in his new home. He is very social with dogs but would prefer to be the only animal in the home as he has a tendency to chase small animals.

Loki is a very affectionate boy and loves a good snuggle. He enjoys playing with his toys and is highly food-motivated. Sadly, Loki came into the shelter with a serious skin infection and requires a special diet moving forward to ensure he is comfortable and free of wounds. He is currently on antibiotics and requires 2 medicated baths/week while he is recovering.

Loki would love a home with an active family who will continue to socialize him and make him the center of their world. He bonds very quickly and would prefer his guardians work part-time or from home so they can spend hours each day fussing over how handsome he is.

If you're interested in Loki, please send in an application today or stop in Tuesday-Sunday between 12p-3pm.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
