My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Almond, the most easygoing and low maintenance dog you’ll ever meet! His one need is…love! Almond is crate trained, never has accidents, eats well, goes potty right away when he goes to the backyard, doesn’t bark, doesn’t growl, does great for baths, and loves everyone. He is good with men, women, and best of all…kids! He loves the 3 year old at his foster home and she loves him back. He lets her dress him up and snuggle him. He is a couch potato through and through. Whether he’s alone on the couch, or trying to curl up in your lap (even though he’s way too big!), he is happiest when he is cozy. He loves the two dogs at his foster home. One is big like him, and the other is 8 pounds. He is so gentle with both of them and they became buddies the moment they met. He has yet to meet a dog he isn’t friendly to. He is also good with indoor cats. He ignores the cat at his foster home for the most part. He does get a little bit more of a pep in his step when he sees cats outside, but he’s no match for them. Although Almond is a senior, the love and affection he shows those around him, is timeless. He is a loyal and loving dog that would make any family happy. He sure has made his foster family happy!

More about this rescue

Our mission is to provide the programs and services needed to eliminate the killing of at-risk animals due to lack of space, adopter or foster.

San Antonio Pets Alive! is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Due to alarming euthanasia rates, San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA!) was founded in 2012. SAPA! is unique—it is the only high paced, high-volume rescue in San Antonio, saving 6,000 at-risk cats and dogs annually.

Since its inception, SAPA! has saved more than 47,000 dogs and cats. SAPA! provides safety nets for the dogs and cats that fall through the cracks of all other lifesaving options and end up on the euthanasia lists, often with just hours to be saved. SAPA! promotes the availability of these dogs and cats to other rescues, adopters and fosters.

questions.

If you are interested in fostering an animal, please visit our website and fill out our online Foster Application. The more foster homes we have the more animals we can pull off the euthanasia list and the more lives we can save together!
