Gennie is a beautiful collie and golden retriever mix. She came from circumstances that were not ideal, but she has blossomed now and has a tail that never seems to stop wagging. After a taking a little time to warm up to them, she's enjoyed the resident dogs and has even started to initiate play with them. She has also discovered toys and is especially fond of stuffed ones. Gennie loves being outdoors in her fenced-in yard, playing or just hanging out.
Gennie loves people even more than dogs and is becoming a Velcro dog. She will admit that she loves them so much she jumps up to say hello, but Gennie is learning to curb her happy enthusiasm. She is treat-motivated and has quickly learned her name and the meaning of “No,” “Down” and “Off.” She is learning to come when called with the help of her canine foster siblings. Gennie now knows the joy of attention, and she is always first in line to be petted. Before coming to AHDRO she was not fed adequately, so she has been known to sneak over to another dog's dish during mealtimes. She would enjoy a canine companion, but we think she would also be fine as an only dog. Her life has turned around in ways she couldn't have hoped for or expected, and she will be forever grateful to find her forever home.
Would enjoy a fenced-in yard, and we will soon know how she does with cats.
