My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rose (FKA Miko) – The Sweet Staffy Mix Ready for Her Forever Home!

Rose, previously known as Miko, is a joyful 10-month-old staffy mix who made her way here from a high-intake shelter in Texas where her future was uncertain. Now safe and thriving in Illinois, Rose is blossoming into a wiggly, lovable girl who’s so grateful for her second chance!

Rose is housebroken with a regular schedule and has been adjusting beautifully to home life. While she isn’t a fan of her crate, she’ll go in with encouragement, but she much prefers her gated area, where she peacefully sleeps through the night.

From the start, Rose has shown her BIG love for sniffing and exploring every corner of her new world. She happily wags her tail—and often her entire body!—as she investigates inside and outside. Her mealtimes are a treat to watch; she eats like a champ, and her foster family has been giving her small snacks to help her adjust.

Rose is also a cuddle pro! During her first bath, she sweetly tucked her face into her foster’s lap, showing off her tender side. With typical puppy energy, she’s eager to play and introduce herself with full-hearted enthusiasm, even happily befriending her foster’s resident puppy. She’s very respectful of boundaries, responding quickly to any limits set with gentleness and respect.

Fully vaccinated, spayed, and healthy, Rose is ready to share her snuggles and happy wiggles with her forever family. She’s an affectionate, joyful pup who’s already stealing hearts with her love for life. 💖 Could that home be yours?

Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.

We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed. An application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee adoption but does allow us to begin the review process.

Please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org for an application or additional details.

Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.

Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant (adopter) for any reason.

More about this rescue

We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.

The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.

Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.

While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.

We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
