My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My adoption fee has been sponsored by one of my supporters so adopters only have to pay the NYC dog license fee of $8.50!

My current foster writes:
Coconut is the sweetest dog anyone can ask for who made herself at home as soon as she walked though my door! Weather it's showing off her favorite toys, or just following you around the house, her tail will never stop wagging! She is incredibly easy going at home and very respectful of her space! Coconut never barks in the house, does not get into trouble when alone, and will always ask permission to jump up on your couch.
Coconut is very smart and knows a few fun tricks including sit, paw, and down!
While Coconut can be a bit dog and small game reactive, she has shown immense progress with her recent training with the Gentle Leader.

My previous foster writes:
Coconut is a very affectionate pittie-mix. She has a very kind spirit and joyful energy. She loves joining her human for long walks or even a leisurely jog but is also comfortable relaxing at home, especially when her human is nearby. She is absolutely great with toddlers and seems like a natural in the city and walking through large crowds of strangers. Coconut is still working on her reactivity toward squirrels and other dogs but she is showing significant progress in this area.

A volunteer writes:
What an absolutely lovely dog! Coconut is a sweet and gentle soul. She is low key and easy going and is happy to spend time with me on a leisurely walk. Coconut makes no demands. Her tail starts wagging when she's spoken to. Come meet this charming girl at Queens ACC.

My #Boroughbreak Buddy writes:
Coconut was such a lovable mush with endearing eyes. She did great in the car. She was very friendly with the public that we encountered. Coconut did a great job being redirected and walking away from dogs in the area at a distance with high value treats. the squirrels were a little more difficult for her but progress was made by using pre Mack principle which impressed me to see any progress fresh out the shelter in one day and in a new environment. When coconut got uncomfortable or dealt with seeing alot of squirrels she got humpy with me as a displacement behavior. She did not escalate into any mouthiness whenever she humped like other dogs I've dealt with with this problem. I redirected with fetch and sniffing games as well as starting teaching OFF cue. She really seemed into training and getting the ball. Coconut was extremely cuddly and will let you know if you stop petting her to continue. We had such a great day together !
