This shy, sweet soul might seem reserved at first, but underneath that timid exterior is a total goofball! Once he's comfortable, Chilkoot's true personality shines as he zooms around the yard in a burst of playful energy! He's a big fan of toys, loves a good belly rub, and will lean right into you for pets when he's feeling safe. Chilkoot is still mastering his leash skills, so a home with a yard where he can stretch his legs and explore comfortably would be ideal. He's been making doggy friends here at the shelter and would thrive in a home with a confident canine buddy to show him the ropes.
Chilkoot is searching for a special family ready to help him build confidence and blossom into the brave companion he's meant to be. If you have a soft spot for shy pups and the patience to help Chilkoot feel at home, he'd love to meet you!

Before you Adopt
Pet adoption is a big commitment. We encourage you to spend considerable time thinking about and researching the type of pet most suitable to your family. Most breeds have their own characteristic traits and specific needs which need to be considered. Remember that some animals have lifespans of 20 years or more.
Prospective adopters will meet the following requirements:
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must have two pieces of identification, with at least one showing your current address and a picture.
- ALL FAMILY MEMBERS, sometimes including family pets, must be present during the adoption process.
- If you already have a dog and are considering adopting another one, you MUST be prepared to bring your current family dog to the interview. This will help you to determine if all family members and existing pets will get along with the new pet.
- If you live in rental accommodations, please confirm that your landlord allows the type of pet you are considering, and that you have paid your pet deposit before you adopt. There are NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES if the building owner does not accept the animal. In addition, you will have to pay all regular surrender fees if you need to return the animal to the Edmonton Humane Society.
If you are looking to adopt a dog or puppy please note:
Some of the dogs on our web site have recommendations on the age of younger family members. These restrictions are placed out of the concern of the dogs as well as in consideration of families.
Remember that new animals arrive every day. You may have to return to the shelter a number of times before you find a good match. It is better to wait and come back again than it is to take home an animal who does not suit your lifestyle
