This adorable dachshund mix is super sweet and very affectionate. She is house trained, crate trained and walks well on a leash. Her owners cannot keep her because she killed one of their chickens. She's good with kids and other dogs too. She loves riding in a car and also loves being in your lap. She would make a great family pet. We charge a $150 adoption fee for shelter dogs, $200 for Paws in Prison trained dogs, and $75 for cats. To make application to adopt a pet you will need to go to our website schspets.org and complete an online application and someone will call you to discuss adoption process and to make an appointment to visit our shelter and cat cottage.

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
