My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rowdy is fostered in Mentor OH and his adoption fee/donation is 150
Rowdy
Hi My name is Rowdy, and I am a senior boy (Approx 10-12 yrs). I am a cute and adorable shih-tzu that ended up in this rescue because my former owner couldn’t take care of me.
I am a really good boy, I love playing ball, and playing with my toys, and I get along with other dogs. I am not really a lap dog like many other Shih-Tzu's, I just like to wander around, get petted, and do my own thing for the most part. I am very easy going, and low maintenance, but I do need regular grooming's, ear cleanings, and prescription dog food to keep my kidneys healthy. When I first came to rescue, I had not been checked out by a vet for a very long time. My kidney values were abnormal, I had horrible teeth and mouth infections, I was in rough shape. Since then, I have had a dental cleaning with several extractions, meds for my kidneys and prescription food to maintain my renal health. I am now ready for my forever retirement home, somewhere that I can live out my life and be the happy & healthy dog that I deserve to be! I am housetrained, and I don’t shed, so I really don’t need much, just someone to love and care for me.
I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. My current medications are Galliprant, a pro-biotic supplement and Royal Canin kibble (Renal Support).

More about this rescue

Cherished Cockers Inc. is an Ohio based, all volunteer group of Cocker Spaniel lovers who help Cockers Spaniels receive the lives that they deserve.
We are funded by donations and fund raising events which goes directly to helping the Cocker Spaniels that have been rescued by Cherished Cockers Rescue.
We do not have a shelter; instead all of our Cocker Spaniels we rescue are living in foster homes.
Cherished Cockers and our volunteers are dedicated to rescuing, whenever possible abandoned, abused, displaced, injured, and surrendered Cocker Spaniels regardless of location, age or physical condition.
We then provide them with veterinary care and eventual placement in forever homes where they will be treated as family and receive the love that they deserve.
We also serve our community and adopters by educating and encouraging responsible pet ownership and the need for spaying and neutering.
Cherished Cockers does not discriminate against anyone for reasons of age, race, religion, politics, gender or sexual orientation.
