My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ziggy is fostered in Mentor Oh and his adoption fee/donation is 150
Hi, My name is Ziggy, I am a 9- 10 yr old male cockapoo. I came into rescue because my former owners were unable to care/provide for me.
I am a super sweet boy!! I LOVE sitting on your lap, I cuddle, snuggle, and give kisses. I also like to chew on bones and play with toys and fetch balls. I do like to destroy my toys though, I rip them open and pull out the stuffing!! I get along well with most dogs, but I get territorial when another dog tries to cut in on my lap time with my person. I want ALL the LOVING, but I can easily be redirected when I act up and try to hog all the attention. I am housetrained, but I do drink a lot of water due to my Cushing’s disease, and need to go out often. I would do best with someone home most of the day to let me out to potty.
I have some medical issues that needed to be tended to, I have been in rescue for several months, and have seen the vet several times now. I have had bloodwork, ultrasounds, X-rays, medications and vaccinations. It was discovered by the testing I had that I have Cushing’s disease. This is the reason my coat looks the way it does. I have balding spots, and thinning hair. Since being on the medication to treat the Cushing’s, I have been doing much better, my bloodwork is looking good, and my coat is gradually looking a bit better.
I am neutered and up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative.

More about this rescue

Cherished Cockers Inc. is an Ohio based, all volunteer group of Cocker Spaniel lovers who help Cockers Spaniels receive the lives that they deserve.
We are funded by donations and fund raising events which goes directly to helping the Cocker Spaniels that have been rescued by Cherished Cockers Rescue.
We do not have a shelter; instead all of our Cocker Spaniels we rescue are living in foster homes.
Cherished Cockers and our volunteers are dedicated to rescuing, whenever possible abandoned, abused, displaced, injured, and surrendered Cocker Spaniels regardless of location, age or physical condition.
We then provide them with veterinary care and eventual placement in forever homes where they will be treated as family and receive the love that they deserve.
We also serve our community and adopters by educating and encouraging responsible pet ownership and the need for spaying and neutering.
Cherished Cockers does not discriminate against anyone for reasons of age, race, religion, politics, gender or sexual orientation.
