About Bryce from her foster human:

How would you describe the cat's general personality? Bryce is a clever and curious cat who enjoys running after toys and watching the city activity out the window. She has yet to learn how to trust people, so most of her time is spent hiding, but she will venture out once she no longer feels threatened.

Does the cat enjoy being pet? No (or not yet?)

Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? N/A

Does the cat come on your lap? No

Does the cat like to be held? No

Does the cat sleep in your bed? No

Does the cat seek your attention? No

Does the cat like to play? Yes, especially when she is alone. Sometimes she will go after a fishing rod style toy if she’s already in a playful mood.

What are the cat's favorite games and toys? She has been obsessed with her little plush mice, but also enjoys batting around anything that makes noise and/or is shiny.

How vocal is the cat? While she was in heat, she’d meow quite a bit in the middle of the night. But, she was just spayed, so it’s still unknown how much noise she’ll make on a regular basis.

What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Unknown

Does the cat scratch a scratcher? No. She has not had access to a vertical-style scratcher and has not been interested in the horizontal one.

Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes

If no, please explain. She peed on a chair one time before she knew where the litter box was, since it was too far away from her initial hiding spot. Ever since then there has not been an issue.

What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Right now Bryce is enjoying fancy feast wet food mixed with Purina One dry food, and tends to prefer grazing her bowl throughout the day/night. The bowl typically needs to be filled twice a day with half a can of wet food with a small handful of dry food.

Is the cat picky about food? She does not seem to be and has happily switched cat food brands a few times.

What is the cat's favorite treat? Her favorite treat hasn’t been discovered yet, but she seems to enjoy Temptation treats and churu.

Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Yes, she will swat if she is picked up or touched too many times.

Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Only when trying to grab her for a vet visit.

Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Only when trying to grab her for a vet visit.

Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No

To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? She will definitely be fearful of new people, based on the fact she has still been acting fearful of everyone.

Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? When she’s intrigued by something, she tends to stretch out her neck and/or tilt her head. She does the a lot, especially if something interesting is happening outside or she finds a mirror. Also, if she’s feeling particularly safe in her environment, she likes to sleep with her arms stretched out straight in front of her.

What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Since Bryce has gone through some traumatic events, she is understandably cautious around people. It’s important to respect her privacy and has been useful to let her have some alone time when settling in. If there’s a human in the room with her, she spooks very easily, so a great way to keep an eye on her without scaring her is to watch through a camera (e.g. smartphone or indoor security camera). This way, there is less risk of sudden movements or eye contact.

In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Bryce has gone through so much for such a small, young cat. She is such a sweetheart and deserves all the love in the world, but she just doesn’t know it yet. Once she decides to start trusting you, it’s the best feeling in the world. (Not to mention she’s adorable with her little white paws and big yellow eyes).
